Moving Pictures

Moving pictures are just as much a passion for me as fine art photographic images. I love the collaborative nature of film and working with a range of talented others. And on camera talent can bring his or her very own frisson.

Former ABC By Design host, the late Alan Saunders was an interesting interviewee when I had him appear on camera for my documentary Heart of Glass - the documentary on Sydney's stand-out 1Bligh St. tower. You can see this at: http://vimeo.com/44632348

Two decades earlier I interviewed the then recently knighted Sir Richard Rogers and now Lord Rogers for a documentary I produced on him. It's available on: http://vimeo.com/45618395.

Two decades on and the essence of Lord Rogers' message and approach remains timeless. He was the model interviewee. I'm lucky enough to interview him again in a month or so's time when he returns to Sydney for the official opening of Chifley Tower he has designed with the very fine local architect Ed Lippmann.

That's another documentary in the making about a building bound to captivate the city's imagination and our cameras. Links will become available as soon as the program is completed later this year. As a record of his earlier visit I have included my portrait of Sir Richard. He displayed great style and fun as we searched for a suitable location to shoot a portrait. The sense of adventure and playfulness is part of the make-up of so many great talents. I liked him very much.
